Pre-Conference Workshop: Practical Approaches to Branch-End Weight Reduction Pruning

Join Chris Winters (ISA BCMA, Chattanooga Tree Project) and Benjamin Moore (ISA CA, Scenic City Arborists) at Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center for an in-depth workshop exploring the science and practice of branch end weight reduction pruning on mature trees. The workshop will include a classroom session and field demonstration. Instruction will cover scientific applications and reasoning behind this practice, including decision making for health and aesthetics, branch attachments, the physics of lever arms, and pruning cut diameters. The field demonstration will include a walk though of methodologies, including climbing techniques for reaching branch ends, ergonomics, and decision making in the moment.
